On 1947 April 15th, Jackie Robinson debuted for the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. The Opponent team was Boston Braves.
That year he won the Rookie of the Year award and in 1949 he was named the National League MVP. Since 2004, this day is officially celebrated as Jackie Robinson Day in MLB.
Jackie Robinson passed away on October 24, 1972, at the age of 53.
