Former NFL star Antonio Brown was briefly taken into custody following a chaotic altercation at a boxing event on Friday night, where witnesses reported a scuffle and possible gunfire.
The event, held in Florida and hosted by popular streamer Adin Ross, turned volatile when an unidentified individual allegedly tried to snatch a chain from Brown’s neck. Video clips circulating online show a physical altercation breaking out between Brown and the individual.
Security quickly stepped in to separate the two, but things escalated when Brown was seen kicking one of the guards who had intervened.
The situation intensified further when Brown reportedly pulled out a firearm, chased the alleged attacker, and fired into the air. Authorities arrived shortly after and detained Brown. He was released soon after and even made a reappearance at the event during Ross’s live stream.
While on camera, Brown gave little commentary about the incident, but he did mention chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) as a possible factor, something he has previously referenced when discussing his post-football behavior.
Brown had an illustrious NFL career from 2010 to 2021, earning numerous accolades including seven Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro honors. However, concerns about his behavior grew following a significant concussion during the 2015-16 playoffs, which some speculate may have impacted his mental health.
Though authorities have not officially confirmed an arrest, footage and social media accounts have drawn widespread attention and speculation surrounding the incident.
One social media user summed up the night by saying, “Antonio Brown got jumped outside the boxing venue and still stood his ground—fired shots to clear things up. Wild night.”
